I'm super excited to announce that a bunch of my items will now be available for sale at The Darlington Mercantile and Confectionary at 46 Public Square here in downtown Darlington.

With the official grand opening on Thursday, The Darlington Mercantile & Confectionary is an old time retail store featuring unique products sourced locally, regionally, and nationally. They serve coffee, tea, baked goods, cold drinks, candy, ice cream - YES ICE CREAM!!!! hot dogs and other snacks that take you back to the good 'ol days. So if you're in town, pop in and grab yourself some ice-cream and perhaps a tote bag or set of storage baskets ;-)

LOL After living in this house for just about a year, I FINALLY got around to sorting out my office. The old space I was working in was cluttered, had pink bedroom carpeting and some kind of disastrous flowered wallpaper that was not good for my head space.

So, I rolled my sleeves up, took out everything that was in there - throwing away what wasn't needed - and stripped the walls and pulled the carpet up. That alone made a HUGE difference. I painted the walls green and had one accent wall that I used Peel and Stick wallpaper on.

My Son in Law (and Daughter and Grandson ;-) ) helped put it all together for me and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

I researched for a long time about what kind of area I WANTED to work in, searching the internet high and low for designs, desks and whatnots. I finally found something that I thought would work, where I could add my own bits and pieces to make it my own. I knew I wanted specific workspaces for each of the crafts I would be doing and having a desk or worktop that butted up against the wall seemed like the best way to go. I priced out butcher block but for the coverage I needed I couldn't afford that! IKEA (my usual favorite go to place) didn't have anything close to what I wanted either. Then someone told me about a local salvage shop that might have what I needed and after a quick walk around and I found EXACTLY what I needed. I bought three heavy HEAVY doors that were flat on one side. The holes in them that were initially meant for door knobs worked perfectly for me to run wires through from my Cricut, sewing machines and lights etc., I had adjustable legs put on them and they were set high enough that I could stand while working. Here you can see the progress photos and the final photos with all my bits and pieces moved back in.

Now that I've 'lived' in it for a couple of months I feel like I'm settled. Right now I've been on a sewing frenzy so you can barely see any workspace areas for all the material that I have piled high. It's a VERY addictive craft but I've made some pretty gorgeous items so I'm happy with that. I just need a day to go through and sort all the material out again :-/ But yeah, that's pretty much it! I LOVE it and I hope that if you are looking to redesign your workspace that you may have gotten an idea or two from this post!
